Why you won’t meet them when you least expect it

If you’re single – and have been for a while – then you’re well-acquainted with this one. If I had a dollar every time I heard “You’ll meet them when you least expect it”, I’d be living in Monaco.

I’ve spent years “not looking” and here we (still) are at square one. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe you’re going to find the soul that’s meant for yours if you constantly have a pair of binoculars on. But I’m also of the opinion that our sublime has a lot more to do with it.

The problem is, it’s an empty statement. Devoid of any real substance.

An incredibly dear friend of mine once said, “You have to decide if your heart is open to it”. Then and there, those ten words completely changed my perspective. It wasn’t about not looking, rather opening your soul to its possibility. By “it”, I mean a connection.

Years passed, many spent hoping I’d meet the one who’s meant for me. But was I actually open to it? I go back to the sublime. Our innermost consciousness. I believe our sublime is what sends signals to higher divines. For some, it’s God, to others, the universe. It’s the sublime that reflects our soul into our realities, as it’s the part of us that sees through our excuses. It does not care for them. I can preach about wanting a relationship all I want, but if that isn’t a truth to the sublime – it shall not manifest.

How does love find you?

Well, I have one last question for you. Are you truly ready to hold love? Think about it. Ponder it beyond face value. You won’t meet them when you least expect it if your soul is not ready to receive. Consider this. You wouldn’t build a house on a foundation that had not set. Just as a baking connoisseur would tell you that the icing should only be placed atop a cake once it’s completely cooled. Only in this case, we are the cake and they are the icing.

Sometimes we jump from relationship to relationship – and none actually seem to work. That’s because not all cakes match the flavour of the icing. It’s simply a matter of finding the strawberry sauce for your vanilla cream. Finding the soul that compliments your own.
