Structured by the Sea

This was my first. My first project. The first of many.

Inspired by the elements this shoot is an elixir of movement and structure. A collection for the modern woman, derived and inspired by her – whereby Earth created movement, man erected structure. This is my interpretation of their meeting.

The word structured has only shined in brief moments in wardrobe history. With its height in the eighties, it stepped aside for the nineties and again for the ’00s – only to be replaced with the ever-popular, relaxed fit. But a new age woman has emerged, reimagining and reinterpreting the ghosts of fashions past.

The soft silhouettes of the all-incapsulating ’90s had women continue to experiment with shape. The wardrobe of the bedroom was brought out into the sun. The era of the slip, the era of silks.

I have always found the dance between softness and sharpness to be a match made in heaven. Bringing the movement from softer textures allows sharp lines in shoulders, waistlines, and hems to take centre stage. And if done correctly, it should captivate, elongate and elevate.

We have reached a moment in time, where liberty in fashion has opened a new channel for the modern woman. The styling of masculine and feminine together as one allows for a new era of creativity and art.

Let your pieces follow your shape closely, or let it conceal it entirely. That freedom is yours. Pieces need to stand the test of time, that will not decay with the waves of popularity.

Stay untamed,

Tamara x
